I just want to go out for a drive. If there were snow it'd be fine. All we get is ice, then salt encrusted car eating roads, and I hate driving in that. Be warm again soon, please.

Salt is everywhere, but I am not sure why everybody is bithchin about it. Most modern cars are not affected by the salt, as in the olde days and with old cars there are some ways to decrease the corrosive effects.

Thorough cleaning of the wheel arches when the weather is right, installing plastic inner fenders wells.

It's more the surprise ice and bitter cold than the salt. My car cleaning bill does rise dramatically in the winter.

Salt is salt. Cars are certainly better, thank god for galvanized body panels, but if you want to keep your car for a long time I still wouldn't drive in the salt no matter how new it is.
